European elections 2019

The polls are only four weeks away and political parties and independent candidates planning to stand have had to notify the elections watchdog by Thursday at 16:00 BST.

Details of who is contesting the elections will be confirmed by officials in 11 out of the UK’s 12 electoral regions.

The European Parliamentary elections are due to take place 23rd May 2019.

All EU citizens living in the UK will have the opportunity to vote in an MEP to represent their region for the first time since 2014.

Originally British voters had not expected to partake in the vote but the further Brexit delay increased the likelihood of the UK still being a member of the EU by the date of the election.
