Severe weather brings down trees and disrupts trains in South London

Bad weather felled a tree at West Wickham station and brought disruption to trains in the area on Saturday (November 2).

Train operators Southeastern said that strong winds had affected a number of its services as Network Rail imposed speed restrictions on various of lines across South London.

round 11am on Saturday morning, a spokesperson for Southeastern said:

“Due to a tree blocking the railway at West Wickham, trains on the Hayes line are disrupted.

“You can use your ticket on London buses at no extra cost between Lewisham and Hayes and Tramlink between Elmers End and Beckenham Junction at no extra cost.”

An update posted to the rail operator’s website described the disruption between West Wickham and Hayes as “minor”.

National Rail meanwhile said that speed restrictions were likely to remain in place until around 2pm.
