What do they do?

The Mayor of London is head of the Greater London Authority and is responsible for Transport for London, the Metropolitan Police and the London Fire Brigade.

They also share responsibility for other services like roads, housing and planning with London borough councils.

Other local services are controlled wholly by the London borough councils.

One London Assembly member, of 25 in total, is elected by each of the 14 London Assembly constituencies in a first-past-the-post system.
