National League: Southend United v Bromley and Altrincham v Stockport County postponed due to Covid-19 cases

The new year National League fixtures at Southend and Altrincham have been postponed because of Covid-19 cases.

Southend’s match against Bromley on Sunday, 2 January has been called off following “additional” cases of the virus within the Shrimpers’ squad.

And Altrincham’s local derby with Stockport on Monday has also been postponed due to the home squad being “decimated by injury and illness”.

Both fixtures will be rescheduled in due course.

This is Southend’s second successive postponed fixture after their match against Barnet on 28 December was also called off due to Covid cases.

Southend drew 1-1 away at Bromley on Boxing Day and are 20th in the table.

Altrincham, beaten 5-1 at Stockport on Boxing Day and 2-0 by Wrexham on Tuesday, have what the club has described as an escalating number of Covid-19 cases within the squad as well as additional injuries.
