Hayes (Kent) Village Association is administered by a Committee made up of a group of residents who volunteer to help make Hayes a great place to live!.
Inevitably, people come and go. So we are always on the lookout for new volunteers.
All residents are welcome to join the committee, subject to our constitution, and contribute to our work, which is wide and various – some tasks are big and some small – all are essential.
This will give you an idea of what committee members do.
We hold a full committee meeting once a month, at Hayes Village Hall, on the second Monday with a break in July and August.
Our AGM is held in March, again in Hayes Village Hall. This is open to all Hayes residents and we like to see all committee members attending.
In addition to the full committee there are three sub-committees:
The sub-committees generally meet at a committee member’s house although we have used Zoom to hold meetings online during the pandemic.
The Planning Sub-committee – Review planning applications every week. With the assistance of an outside expert, where needed, we lodge objections in support of residents.
The M&E Sub-committee – The sub-committee meets monthly and always has various topics to cover, such as organising a Treasure Hunt and other events (both fundraising and charitable), dealing with policy issues, marketing and advertising local businesses, maintaining our website and Facebook presence and supporting local organisations and charities.
The HKVA Review Editorial Sub-committee – is responsible for producing the quarterly HKVA Review magazine. It meets twice a quarter to plan the design and scope of the next issue, receive contributions from a variety of local organisations and residents and proof read before being sent to the printers.
All in all, you would be joining a happy group of volunteers whose main objective is to make Hayes a Great place to live.
